Faith

Faith - An inner type of "knowing, without knowing how you know." Why we use this word in our daily lives. Something alternately encouraged and destroyed by various spiritual leaders. Faith is a claim that one believes in miracles. It is an word that describes a process of insisting that you believe in a statement, phrase, or position, and refusing under any conditions to consider, question, or doubt anything contrary to it. Another word for "inner strength."An inner state of something similar to "confidence," something akin to an unshakeable state of being, which does not crumble, no matter what happens.

Something you're supposed to have in "God".Something you're supposed to have in "yourself". Something you’re supposed to have in “dear-ones”."When you question people about their faith, a great many will tell you that they believe in 'someone' or 'something', but they are unable to say exactly whom or what. Their intuition tells them that they once knew and experienced something, and occasionally, like a brief flash of light from the depths of time, that knowledge and those experiences rise to the surface of their consciousness. They do not know why this impression is so compelling, but they cannot doubt its reality. Now the soul or mind is composed of principles, such as intelligence, wisdom, knowledge, love, strength, etc. These principles are potentials that must be developed through life itself (i.e. interaction with the world and other humans). Hence, the purpose of adversity is to develop these attributes in much the same fashion as stress aids in the development of the muscular and skeletal systems. What this means is that the soul has the innate ability to bounce back from adversity provided certain principles are embraced such as faith, hope, love, etc.

Faith is the most common principle found in all studies although it takes on many different manifestations. It is not always found in a religious sense-as faith in God. Some people had faith in the future that things would not always be as bad as they are. This allows them to "hang in there" in the face of the storm. Faith in God was found to serve as a tremendous confidence booster. This gave the person perseverance and hope to endure in what appears to be a hopeless situation. DeFrain stated that 56% of the people in his study said they had no one to talk to. They held unto "the idea of guardian angels and or a God who will always love and forgive them. I am using the same theory and loves to talk with my God.

Spiritual principles, such as faith, self-confident, cannot be taught in the literal sense, as in the case of a parent teaching a child to ride the bike or read a book. This is because these principles are spiritual in nature. Basically, parents, teachers, or friends must give encouragement, which is how the principles are imparted. One can discuss these principles and show how they operate, as in the case of faith in the placebo effect, which shows forth the power of a belief in the mind. But the principles of faith can only be exercised in face of some type of challenge, or adversity. Usually there are some traumatic situations that result in being overwhelmed by some emotions, such as fear, despair, doubt, grief, etc., that will not allow the person to exercise these positive principles of faith. Faith play a vital role in personality development.

There are six stages of the faith in Psychology ;-
* Stage one – "Intuitive-Projective" faith (ages of three to seven), and is characterized by the psyche's unprotected exposure to the Unconscious. Intuitive-projective faith is the fantasy-filled, imitative phase in which the child can be powerfully and permanently influenced by examples, moods, actions and stories of the visible faith of primally related adults.
* Stage two – "Mythic-Literal" faith (mostly in school children), stage two persons have a strong belief in the justice and reciprocity of the universe, and their cosmic powers are almost always anthropomorphic. Mythic-Literal faith is the stage in which the person begins to take on for him- or herself the stories, beliefs and observances that symbolize belonging to his or her community. Beliefs are appropriated with literal interpretations, as are moral rules and attitudes. Symbols are taken as one-dimensional and literal in meaning.
* Stage three - "Sythetic-Conventional" faith (arising in adolescence) characterized by conformity. Synthetic-Conventional faith, a person's experience of the world now extends beyond the family. A number of spheres demand attention: family, school or work, peers, street society and media, and perhaps religion. Faith must provide a coherent orientation in the midst of that more complex and diverse range of involvements. Faith must synthesize values and information; it must provide a basis for identity and outlook.
* Stage four – "Individuative-Reflective" faith (usually mid-thirties to early forties) a stage of angst and struggle. The individual takes personal responsibility for their beliefs and feelings. Individuative-Reflective faith is particularly critical for it is in this transition that the late adolescent or adult must begin to take seriously the burden of responsibility for his or her own commitments, lifestyle, beliefs and attitudes. Where genuine movement toward stage 4 is underway the person must face certain unavoidable tensions: individuality versus being defined by a group or group membership; subjectivity and the power of one's strongly felt but unexamined feelings versus objectivity and the requirement of critical reflection; self-fulfillment or self-actualization as a primary concern versus service to and being for others; the question of being committed to the relative versus struggle with the possibility of an absolute.
* Stage five – "Conjunctive" faith acknowledges paradox and transcendence relating reality behind the symbols of inherited systems. Conjunctive faith involves the integration into self and outlook of much that was suppressed or unrecognized in the interest of Stage 4's self-certainty and conscious cognitive and affective adaptation to reality. This stage develops a "second naivete'' (Ricoeur) in which symbolic power is reunited with conceptual meanings. Here there must also be a new reclaiming and reworking of one's past. There must be an opening to the voices of one's "deeper self." Importantly, this involves a critical recognition of one's social unconscious-the myths, ideal images and prejudices built deeply into the self-system by virtue of one's nurture within a particular social class, religious tradition, ethnic group or the like.
* Stage six – "Universalizing" faith, or what some might call, enlightenment. Stage 6 is exceedingly rare. The persons best described by it have generated faith compositions in which their felt sense of an ultimate environment is inclusive of all being. They have become incarnators and actualizers of the spirit of an inclusive and fulfilled human community. They are "contagious" in the sense that they create zones of liberation from the social, political, economic and ideological shackles we place and endure on human futurity. Living with felt participation in a power that unifies and transforms the world, Universalizers are often experienced as subversive of the structures (including religious structures) by which we sustain our individual and corporate survival, security and significance.

The other names of the faith are confidence, trust, hope, knowledge ,information and understanding. Every person is different from each other. My God is a God of faith, and it takes faith to please Him. God loves all of us every minute of every day. We don't just walk by faith until we get the sight we really desired. We walk by faith, period. When sight comes, we praise God and keep walking by faith. It's so true that with faith, one can reach his goals, one can make things happen. Holy Quran saying- Faith is words and deeds; it increases and decreases; it increases by means of obedience and worship, and it decreases by means of disobedience and sins."

God bless & keep smiling!
