Assessment or Evaluation
Assessment or Evaluation provides a way to measure a students, work or any project' demonstration of learning. It helps us answer the questions: "How much did they learn?" and "How well did they learn it?" and "How well did we teach it ? How well they delivered their services etc?" It shows you exact where are you standing?
Self Assessment - “It’s good, from time to time, to step back and reflect on how you are doing in your daily life. It lets you see if you’re still on the right track, and it helps you to keep moving forward in various areas of your life.” It’s good advice, but, let’s be honest, how often do we practice what we preach?
The interactive, self-assessment/self-evaluation tool which can help you reflect upon and evaluate your skills, knowledge and abilities in four areas of professional work:
o Professional knowledge
o Professional practice
o Professional accountability
o Professional conduct
Evaluation is the process through which ones judge the quality and quantity of work -- their own or their students'. There are two types of evaluative strategies: 1) Formative evaluations, which involve a continual stream of reflection and feedback, and allow the educator or student to continually adjust and improve their work while it's ongoing. 2) Traditionally, teachers have emphasized summations evaluations, where feedback is gathered only after instruction has been completed. Both strategies are necessary to provide for effective curriculum assessment and student performance or education.
There are a variety of ways to provide the self-assessments.
1. Plan or design.
2. Clarify the goal
2. Check the time frame/ time management.
3. How much effort needed and did you put into this enough?
4. What do you think your strengths and weaknesses were in this assignment?
5. How could you improve your assignment?
6. What are the most valuable things you learned from this assignment?
It is important to model self-assessment too. It is important for everybody to self-evaluate by doing their own self-evaluations if you would like to see yourself professional and successful person in the future. If you have a good plan, goal,,knowledge, motivation, resources and time it is very easy to achieve in any area of life.
