Personal Development

Personal development or Self-help or self-improvement refers to self-guided improvement[1]—economically, intellectually, or emotionally—most frequently with a substantial psychological or spiritual basis. Personal development planning will help you achieve your potential as it will help you identify skills gaps and improvement areas.

Ones needs to do their self assessments and find out their strength and weakness. Many people feel that if they focus on themselves they are being selfish and cutting the attention to the other aspects of their lives that they have deemed more important, thus leaving room for those inner most desires lacking. In order to find happiness, we all need to look deep into ourselves and find the things that make us who we really are. Those things that make us smile and whistle when no one else seems to be feeling our happiness. These are the things that need to be the center of our worlds, these are the passions that need to fuel our lives.

To answer the question, what are you passionate about, may require that you spend time and energy seriously considering your likes and dislikes. Think back to your youth and the things that interested you as a child or teenager. Think about projects or hobbies you worked on that left you exhilarated. Write in your journal or look through past journal entries and find the pattern of things that leave you feeling better about your day. If you listen to your heart, the answer will reveal itself rivaled by little else. Whereas in my own case I feel passions in very small things like dancing on the busy street of Manhattan or midnight walk on the road without shoes , damn all my fantasies

Poor self esteem and personal insecurities haunt many people. Self concept or self identity comes from persistent assessment of ones self, however, too many times this assessment is based on the false perceptions and distorted images. Over time, the distorted image becomes reality. There are other times in our lives when a fear of the unknown can take hold of us and push us into the realm of self doubt. The fear of failing, not becoming what we once dreamed we would and not attaining success all wreak havoc on the minds eye. When reading this sort of thought, it may sound preposterous, but it is a very real situation.

Life without balance and self-esteem will be life without happiness. The happiness we want and desire is rooted in our need to be better that we are right now and better than everyone else around us. Without a doubt, once we refocus our lives on the things that matter the most, our bodies, our hearts and our minds, the rest will fall into place an happiness will be achieved.
